"MY KIDS WON’T BEHAVE FOR PHOTOS” — WHY THAT’S ACTUALLY OKAY

They wiggle. They run. They protest. They melt down five minutes before we start... If this sounds familiar, I want you to know: Your kids don’t need to "behave" for photos to be meaningful.

“Good behavior” isn’t the goal — CONNECTION is.

They’re tiny, fun, unpredictable little humans. Your photos don’t need perfection to be powerful. Some off my favorite images include:

  • A child mid-laugh, slightly blurry
  • A parent kneeling down to comfort
  • Siblings tangled together instead of standing still

Those moments are the moments that tell your story.

What actually happens during a Rhythm Photography session

I don’t expect kids to perform. I expect them to be themselves and comfortably so. This means instead of forcing smiles, we make room for play and fun! We take breaks when needed and we go with the flow, not fight it. I’ll gently guide when it helps and step back when it doesn’t. No pressure. No shame.

If you’re worried about meltdowns, please keeping in mind that it's okay to pause, take a deep breath, and have a moment of calm and comfort. Some of the sweetest images develop after that hard moment passes. The fun and that innocent joy will translate through every shot.

How you can prep your kids (without bribing them)

Make sure they are comfortable in what they're wearing. Bring water and snacks. Let them know it'll be a quick and fun time with a new friend--me -- and trust process. Threats and pressure will not help set a positive environment. Don't worry, I’ve got you! Truly.

The photos you’ll love most won’t be the posed ones

Years from now, you won’t remember who sat still or who smiled on cue. You’ll remember the way they leaned into you for comfort, their pure joy, and how it felt to hold them exactly as they were. And THAT'S what I want to capture for you

If you’ve been waiting to book photos because your kids “won’t behave,” this is your permission slip. You don’t need perfect kids — just a willingness to show up.

I can't wait to meet you and photograph you. <3
